The Visored, as they appear 100 years ago (top) and present time (bottom). Visored are the result of when a Hollow with similar make up of an Asauchi enter their soul and merge with their Zanpakutō. Instead, they expressively confirm themselves enemies of Aizen, and by extension, the Espada, and state that they are allies of Ichigo Kurosaki. ![]() Even after the events that made them outlaws by Soul Society 100 years ago, the Visored bear no ill will toward the Gotei 13, but they prefer not to consider themselves allies of the former organization they belonged to either. Their intentions are eventually revealed when they arrive at the Battle of the Fake Karakura Town. The Visored do not have any sort of hierarchy, preferring a loose-knit organization. However, they are still considered to be valuable allies in the war against Sōsuke Aizen's army of Arrancar, according to Kisuke Urahara. When they approach Ichigo Kurosaki, they come across as reclusive and loyal only to themselves. They are considered criminals by the Soul Society for committing the ultimate taboo of acquiring Hollow powers their status as former leaders of Soul Society also marks them as traitors. The Visored are former captain- and lieutenant-level Shinigami. This process of donning one's Hollow mask is referred to as Hollowfication. Their spiritual pressure likewise changes into a mix of Hollow and Shinigami. This allows them to augment their Shinigami abilities with Hollow powers, as well as giving them access to some of the more generic Hollow abilities. To gain access to their Hollow powers, a Visored dons a Hollow mask. Having begun as Shinigami, the Visored appear entirely Human and, barring when they are using their powers, are indistinguishable from ordinary Shinigami. If that person's a failure, too bad.The Visored are the antithesis to the Arrancar as Shinigami who have obtained Hollow powers. Most blades must feel highly discontent, but they can't do anything about it because they're linked to a single person. Some are constantly bruised and battered without ever being heard, like Zaraki's (yeah, he heard it recently, but after how long?) and most are in the possession of Shinigami who can hardly achieve Shikai, let alone Bankai. They grow and evolve with their Shinigami and have an as yet unknown but likely complex relationship with them. Zanpakuto - Part of the problem here is that we really don't understand them yet. Sure, you can fight it for control, but you risk losing everything in the process. ![]() That Hollow is like a voice inside your head, hating you and trying constantly to grab control of your body. You have to be the victim of an incredibly traumatic event that gave birth to your inner Hollow. Visored - I know it sounds awesome, but the practical realities are anything but. Acceptance is a long, unlikely, and dangerous road, and victory is nearly impossible. But now, you're stuck in a constant cycle of battles with Soul Society, a group that views you as nothing but a more powerful version of your faceless, insatiable bretheren. The struggle required to get to this point is immense, but you are pretty powerful with amazing abilities. Sadly, you're likely still pretty weak.Īrrancar: Have to be dead. ![]() If you're lucky and powerful enough to survive that, you'll likely find yourself the victim of a Soul Reaper. Struggle to survive in a massively unforgiving environment where other Hollows are trying to kill and eat you. The incest thing is a problem, but it could be worse. A pure blood Quincy is powerful in most circumstances with access to a litany of abilities we've only started to see. Fun characters, probably my second choice.īount - Getting hunted by Soul Reapers and generally despising anyone who doesn't suck people dry is a deal breaker, despite the awesome powers. Duties often more dangerous than average Soul Reapers.įullbringer - Widely varied abilities and power levels, so a lot of uncertainty with them. Substitute Soul Reaper: At the beck and call of Soul Reapers who don't trust you, often with difficult to control powers. Most are relatively weak as well, so it's unlikely that I'd be someone powerful. Part of a large military installation that is constantly at war with tremendous monsters. Human: Generally unlikely to have powers and uninteresting. My reasoning is mainly by process of elimination: I know it's odd to think about this from an *ehem* "logical" perspective, but I'd rather be a Quincy than anything.
